	<title>Focus Group Discussion 'G-20 &amp; Development Agenda'</title>
		<description>Time: 09.00-16.00
Venue: Gran Melia Hotel, Jakarta

The last G-20 summit in Toronto few months ago concluded with a new commitment to put development issue on the G-20 agenda. As has been underlined by critics, G-20 has put too much attention to the ways of how to deal with the financial crisis rather than on the ways of how to mitigate the social impacts of the crisis. G-20 also becomes the vehicle for G-7 leaders to save their national economy rather than to rescue the whole global economy and particularly the developing countries' economy.

With the upcoming G-20 summit in Seoul it is now time for G-20 to engage in development issue as it touches the common basic needs in developing countries and the progress in this agenda will obviously affect the future global economy. There is great hope that Indonesia should play more active role in the G-20 process. Following the commitment on development agenda, Indonesia needs to strengthen its position in G-20 and collaborate with other developing countries to speak in one voice on behalf of developing world. The challenge is now clear: how Indonesia can represent the common interests of developing countries in such giant club.

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Indonesia and Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) are holding workshop on G-20 and development agenda: formulationg recommendantions for G-20 Summit in Seoul, addressing three sub themes on G-20's development agenda, the role of CSOs and the position of Indonesia in G-20 process.
